Operator details still to be supplied

The following information still needs to be supplied by the operator and has not been invented here:

  • Legal name and jurisdiction of the operator
  • Registered address
  • Contact details

Freebase is a register of free alternatives to paid software. It answers one question: “I use this tool — what can replace it without a subscription?”

Every entry separates three facts that are usually blurred together: the offer (entirely free, a permanent free plan, a trial, or paid), the licence (open source, proprietary, or other), and the hosting model (hosted, self-hosted, or both). A badge is only shown for what is known; everything else says “Not verified”.

Alternatives are editorial relations: a tool is not an alternative because it shares keywords, but because an editor approved it as a replacement for a specific product. Approval of a tool and approval of a relation are two separate decisions.
